Back in Action
After the Blog's Spring Break
I took a few weeks off from this blog.
My own “spring break.”
Which is almost comical, as just this morning (April 6), it was snowing like mad outside!
I am always telling my clients to build in time for rest, time to reflect, time to tune out.
It’s not because our communities don’t matter.
It’s because we can’t show up as our best selves if we don’t restore, if we don’t make sure our tanks are as full as possible.
I say “as full as possible” because topping them off may not always be realistic.
And the gas metaphor feels more meaningful than ever.
Our energies, our resistance, our families, friends, neighbors, communities, we are all strapped thin these days.
So all the more reason to carve out some time to refill and reset.
We all need to.
And reflection is a core component of insight. So I did a bunch of that.
Not generalized reflection or rumination.
Specific reflection on specific components of my life. For me: home, family/friends/community, business, and personal projects. Sometimes I call these “buckets” (more about this in a later post). I also think about learning and growing over time. What’s the same, what’s different, and where do I want to work towards meaningful, intentional positive change?
I’m a caretaker of my mom, who lives in a memory care facility. Sometimes it’s just admin; sometimes there are a lot of different emotions that go along with that.
I thought about where I was a year ago, caretaking for two family members, and where I was two years ago, navigating a hectic work environment. Heck, three years ago, we were putting in an offer on a house and planning a big move.
I realized: “It’s been literal years since I had a transition into spring where I could make time to breathe, make time to really think about what I wanted to plant for myself, my projects, my goals.”
I didn’t stop doing All The Things. But I looked at The Things, and I thought: what can rest for a moment so I can use that space for a bit of something else?
So I decided to press pause here.
And I had a very fruitful couple of weeks.
I’m excited to roll out some changes to Aligned Insight Coaching later this year.
It’s time. We’ve had a year to grow, and it makes sense to think about the next steps.
I’ll be laying the foundation this spring, around the same time I put in the garden.
Planting business seeds while planting herbs and veggies.
Because that’s really what spring is. It’s the planting season.
Even up here, where the ground is white again with fresh snow on April 6th!
I can’t wait to share with you all.
I’m grateful you’re here.
Coming up, I’ll share some of the most-loved posts and coaching guides as this blog celebrates its first birthday next week.
Later this month, I’ll share the April Self-Coaching Guide.
If you have wishes for blog topics, coaching offerings, readings, or anything else, I’d love to hear them! I can’t make any promises, but I’m always open to suggestions.
And if you want to grab anything on the current website, please get in touch! As long as it’s up there, it’s available.
And if you’re not seeing what you’re looking for, send me an email at alignedinsightcoaching@gmail.com. If I don’t offer what you're seeking or can’t do it, I’ll be happy to refer you to a trusted colleague.
In the meantime, I’d love to know what’s coming up for you. What are you dreaming of? What are you planting?
